Charting Last Week (4/22 - 4/26/13)

The Daily Leading Index fell by 0.54% percentage points to 5.02%. The Daily Coincident Index is at 2.56%. The Daily Leading Index page on the tab above is updated daily during the week. Equities posted strong gains for the week, led by a 3.35% increase in International Developed Markets (EFA). Bond prices were up for the week as well. The charts below show the normal trading ranges for various indices for the last six months. The red (or green) area indicates 2-3 standard deviations above (or below) the normal 21 day trading range. The gray area indicates 1-2 standard deviations above (or below) the normal 21 day trading range. The Leading Index for the International Developed Markets (EFA) rose to 1.38%. The Leading Index for International Emerging Markets (EEM) fell to 5.38%. The Daily Leading Index fell by 0.77% percentage points to 5.56%. The Daily Coincident Index is at 2.56%. The Daily Leading Index page on the tab above is updated daily during the week. Equity prices were down for the week after being in record territory last week. Bond prices were up for the week. The red (or green) area indicates 2-3 standard deviations above (or below) the normal 21 day trading range. The gray area indicates 1-2 standard deviations above (or below) the normal 21 day trading range. This week, the International Developed Markets (EFA) remained at 1.32%. The Leading Index for International Emerging Markets (EEM) fell slightly to 5.77% due to a decline in the leading index for China. Equity prices rose for the week. The S&P 500 pushed farther into record territory. Long Term Treasuries (TLT) were down for the week. The red (or green) area indicates 2-3 standard deviations above (or below) the normal 21 day trading range. The gray area indicates 1-2 standard deviations above (or below) the normal 21 day trading range. This week, the International Developed Markets (EFA) rose by 0.24% percentage points to 1.32%. International Leading Indicators - 4/10/13

The Leading Indicator for International Developed Markets (EFA) rose to 1.12% and is 0.47% percentage points higher than last month. The Leading Indicator for International Emerging Markets (EEM) rose to 5.81%. This is 0.42% percentage points higher than last month. The OECD released their Leading Indicators for most major countries today. When available, I have averaged the indicators with the Conference Board's Leading indicators to create a composite for each country. I created Leading Indicators for International Developed Markets (EFA) and International Emerging Markets (EEM) by weighting each country's growth rate by the market share of each country's stocks in the respective funds. On the last chart below, you can click on the blue and red buttons to see the Leading Indicator growth rate and an ETF for various countries.

Charting Last Week (4/1 - 4/5/13)

The Daily Leading Index rose by 0.38% percentage points to 7.23%. The Daily Coincident Index is at 2.48%. The Daily Leading Index page on the tab above is updated daily during the week. Equity prices fell for the week, led by a 2.86% decline in the Russell 2000 (IWM). IWM dipped into the oversold territory during the week. On flipside bond prices were up for the week, led by a 4.52% increase in Long Term Treasuries (TLT). The red (or green) area indicates 2-3 standard deviations above (or below) the normal 21 day trading range. The gray area indicates 1-2 standard deviations above (or below) the normal 21 day trading range. There were not any updates to the International Leading Indices. The Leading Index for International Developed Markets (EFA) is at 1.08%. The Leading Index for International Emerging Markets (EEM) is at 5.42%.
